A Plague Tale: Requiem// Review.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is an action-adventure and stealth electronic game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Home Interactive.

Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

E3 2021 was the stage for the announcement of the sequel to A Plague Tale, and early on, Asobo started by showing fans pieces that unveiled more about what they could expect from this new title. The first game of the franchise, A Plague Tale: Innocence, marked the videogame industry with an irreverent and unconventional storyline, which captivated all those who love a good plot, guided by mysterious, hidden and dark elements, in a formula that results in an intense gameplay, focused mainly on stealth and logic and reasoning puzzles.

The violent reality that A Plague Tale: Requiem shows us and, by the way, the one with the greatest impact. The first title already demonstrated this, but the sequel undertakes to be more upfront with the audience and reiterates that Amicia and Hugo’s innocence is definitely over. Now it’s time to deal head-on with the curse (Macula) that plagues Hugo, and avoid the end of the world. Requiem is in keeping with its semantics. Being a liturgical work of art, Asobo’s new game arrives in the form of a tribute to the dead, in what promises to be an absolutely thrilling journey in the company of an impetuous blood tie.

Pasture and vegetation, we play hide and seek, throw stones into the lake, completely oblivious to any danger. When we least expect it, lo and behold, threats arise that endanger the safety of those we most want to protect. And in this, Requiem has an advantage over Innocence: we already know those characters, and the emotion we feel in the tight moments is intensified by this familiarity. This journey is marked by constant twists and turns. It takes a strong stomach to deal with the sudden change.
A Plague Tale: Requiem begins in exactly the same way as Innocence. Apparently everything is fine, and we players even manage to be naively relaxed with the character interactions and playful activities of the moment. But it doesn’t take long to rediscover the formula of the first game, and it’s easy to see why it works so well. Similar to its predecessor, Requiem is an action-adventure game played from a third-person perspective. In the game, the player takes control of the character Amicia and must face both soldiers of the French Inquisition and hordes of hungry rats that are spreading the Black Death. The gameplay is quite similar to the first game, although the combat system is significantly expanded.

Mice?

A Plague Tale: Requiem introduces an entirely different dimension. We are talking about swarms of rats with such explosive power and speed that they can destroy castles, walls and other structures in seconds.
