Synopsis of the Movie
After moving to Salem, Massachusetts, teenager Max Dennison explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani and his new friend Allison. After not believing a story Allison tells, Max accidentally frees a group of evil witches that used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the children must steal the witches’ book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal.
Movie review
Disney studios have a tradition of popularizing stories from the children’s universe with special skill. In Abracadabra, the idea was to transform the saga of the Salem witches into children’s entertainment. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are hilarious as the witches who try to steal children’s youth, like movie stars willing to eliminate any wrinkle. The young cast, however, is not up to the task.
