Synopsis of the Movie
While traveling to visit their grandfather, two children are told the story of a family curse that has lasted 200 years. During Napoleon’s Italian invasion, Elisabetta Benedetti fell in love with French soldier Jean, but while Jean was distracted, Elisabetta’s brother Corrado stole some gold that Jean was guarding, and set the curse in train. The Benedettis become wealthy, corrupt, and hated by their former friends, who rename them the Maledettis–the cursed. The children’s grandfather Massimo is the last man to be directly affected by the curse–but will he pass it on to them?

Movie review

This film (whose original title corresponds to spring in the 18th century French revolutionary calendar) tells the story of the Benedetti family’s two hundred year history since the Napoleonic Wars. Meanwhile, a member of the family steals gold from Napoleon’s battalion. This leads him to shoot the soldier guarding it, cursing his family (which you could call Maledetti). Unflinching proponents of thematic fidelity, the Tavlians again talk about love, hate and gold, synonymous with the power that corrupts people and changes their emotions. They always make the same films, and fortunately it worked again.
