Privacy Policy

The short version

Exit Nerd, operated by Aaron Bailey, collects the data needed to sell and provide the Guide, secure customer access, and send emails a person requests. We do not sell personal information or use advertising cookies.

What we collect

• When you buy the Guide: Stripe collects the checkout and payment details needed to process the purchase. Exit Nerd receives and stores the purchase email, Stripe customer and transaction identifiers, amount, time, and access status. Exit Nerd does not receive or store the full card number.
• When you sign in: Exit Nerd stores the email tied to access, hashed single-use token and session identifiers, creation and expiration times, and records used to limit repeated email requests. The session cookie contains a random identifier, not the email address.
• When you request the checklist: If the email form is enabled, the newsletter provider collects the first name and email submitted to that form. The free checklist is also available directly without an email address.
• When you visit: Netlify and other delivery infrastructure may process IP address, request time, user agent, requested URL, and security or operational logs. Exit Nerd runs Fathom Analytics, which counts page views without cookies, without cross-site tracking, and without building a profile of you. Exit Nerd does not run an advertising tracker.

How we use it

• — To deliver Guide access after purchase and keep you signed in when you return
• — To send you the free checklist if you signed up for it
• — To send newsletter or product emails only when you requested them
• — To prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and secure the service

Third-party services

We use the following services that may process your data:

• Stripe — payment processing (their privacy policy)
• Mailgun — transactional email (purchase and sign-in links)
• Netlify — website hosting, server functions, access records, and encrypted data storage
• Fathom Analytics — privacy-focused, cookieless traffic measurement (their privacy policy)
• Google Fonts — font delivery; a request to Google can disclose the visitor's IP address and browser information

These providers process data to perform their services under their own terms and privacy notices. Exit Nerd may also disclose information when required by law, to investigate abuse, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Cookies

This site uses a necessary session cookie for paid Guide access. It is marked Secure, HttpOnly, and SameSite=Lax and expires after 90 days unless removed earlier by signing out. Our analytics runs without cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site advertising trackers.

Retention and security

Customer and purchase records are kept while Guide access remains active and as needed for payment, fraud, tax, accounting, dispute, and legal obligations. Login tokens expire after 15 minutes, welcome tokens after 24 hours, and sessions after 90 days. Providers may retain delivery, payment, and security records under their own policies. Exit Nerd uses encrypted transport, hashed access credentials, restricted service credentials, and access controls, but no internet service can promise absolute security.

International processing

Exit Nerd and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those locations may have different privacy laws from the visitor's country.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from optional emails using the link in the message. You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information by emailing us. We will verify the request and respond subject to applicable law, required transaction records, active disputes, security needs, and records controlled by independent providers such as Stripe.

Children

The site and Guide are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. Do not submit a child's personal information.

Changes

This policy may be updated occasionally. We'll note the date at the top when we do.
